KOCH LORBER FILMS ACQUIRES LAGERFELD CONFIDENTIAL AT CANNES FOR 2007 RELEASE
The Compelling Doc Will Have its North American Theatrical Release This October; Additional Rights Include TV, Home Entertainment and Digital
CANNES FILM FESTIVAL (May 18, 2007) – Everyone knows his trademark grey ponytail, fans and sunglasses. Karl Lagerfeld has long since succeeded in turning himself into an icon with a persona every bit as dazzling as his fashion. But who is the real man behind the sunglasses? LAGERFELD CONFIDENTIAL, a compelling and intimate documentary from director Rodolphe Marconi, peels away the myth for the very first time. Following its premiere at Berlin and its screening at Cannes, the film has been acquired for North American (U.S. and Canada) theatrical, home entertainment, TV and digital release by Richard Lorber, President of KOCH Lorber Films from Didar Dohmeri of France-based Films Distribution. LAGERFELD CONFIDENTIAL is scheduled to have its domestic theatrical debut in October with a national roll-out, followed by DVD, TV and Digital release in 2008.
Apart from recent interviews, Lagerfeld has never discussed his private life in depth before LAGERFELD CONFIDENTIAL. Working in close collaboration with his subject, director Marconi succeeded in recording over 150 hours of material. The resulting extensive cinematic portrait provides audiences with a closer look at this famous creator of fashion that is more than just a record of his everyday life. In this portrait, insight into the man's personal history and his obsessions are gained; Lagerfeld is presented as a photographer and painter, as a great lover of the cinema, as a book collector and an art connoisseur. Of course this is a film about luxury, money and style. However, it is also about key moments in the life of the Hamburg-born fashion designer who has influenced generations and the world of fashion with his inspired and cutting edge fashions.
